White Hills Botanical Gardens

The White Hills Botanical Gardens is a beautiful spot for a picnic. With lovely, newly upgraded facilities, the playground is a wonderful adventure for kids, as well as the bird sanctuary. Barbecue and toilet facilities available.

Sacred Heart Cathedral
  • Sacred Heart Cathedral – Corner of Wattle and High Streets, Bendigo.

The Cathedral is one of Bendigo’s greatest pieces of architecture. Definitely worth a stop to admire the view, if you’re lucky you may pass as organist is playing.

Post Office Gallery
  • Bendigo Post Office Gallery – 51-67 Pall Mall, Bendigo VIC 3550. Open 9am – 5pm daily. Gold coin donation entry.

When looking for places to go, the Information Centre is always the first place to head. As well as containing flyers and brochures for locations in Bendigo and surrounding areas, the former post office contains two smaller art galleries once inside.

Victoria Hill Quarts Mines
  • Victoria Hill Mining Reserve – 24-32 Happy Valley Road, Ironbark.DSC05247

The Victoria Hill Quarts Mines are a major part of Bendigo’s gold rush history. With walking tracks to explore, nature to see and a poppet head to climb to see the view, the mines are a nice place to stop. As well as this there is barbecue and toilet facilities, as well as picnic spots.

La Trobe Institute of Art
  • La Trobe Institute of Art – 121 View St, Bendigo VIC 3550. Open 10am – 5pm Tuesday to Friday, 12pm – 5pm Saturday and Sunday, closed Monday. Gold coin donation entry.

Directly across the road from the famous Bendigo Art Gallery in the arts district, the La Trop Institute of Art has new collections every few weeks, and is worth a stop if going on an Art crawl.

The Zone Fun Park
  • The Zone – 1 Gildea Ln, East Bendigo VIC 3550. Open 10am – 8pm Sunday to Thursday, 10am – 11pm Fridays, 10am – 10pm Saturdays. Prices vary.

The Zone is an activity park that features roller skating, mini golf, laser tag, go karts, paintball, arcade games and more. Great for kids big and small.

Bendigo Art Gallery
  • Bendigo Art Gallery – 42 View St, Bendigo VIC 3550. Open 10am – 5pm Tuesday to Sunday, closed Monday. Gold coin donation for permanent collection, other exhibitions may cost extra or need to be booked in advance.

Lake Weeroona
  • Lake Weeroona – Lake Weeroona, Bendigo VIC 3550.IMG_0046

Great walking/riding track, large playground, toilet and barbecue facilities available and ducks always ready to eat your left over bread. Definitely a nice picnic spot, across the road from Favourite Flavours Ice creamery and a fish and chip shop. But if you’re not in the mood for a picnic there are plenty of cafes and restaurants in walking distance of the lake, to go to before or after you’ve walked around.

Mickey Mouse Hill

Mickey Mouse Hill is a lookout the views a city of Bendigo. However to locals it is also known as “Make Out Point”. It is definitely worth it to go have a look at the view, but watch out for any funny business.

Conservatory Gardens
  • Conservatory Gardens – located in Rosalind Park towards the Mall.

Beautiful gardens to stop and look at if wandering through town. The gardens are closed up after 5pm most nights.

Bendigo Bowling Centre
  • Bendigo Bowling Centre – 159 Hargreaves St, Bendigo VIC 3550. Monday to Friday 9:30am – 10:30pm. Saturday and Sunday 10am – 10:30pm. Prices based on 1 game, $12 per adult, $10 per student or concession, $7.50 children 6 & under. Sundays after 3pm it is $6 per person.

Prices include shoe hire and bowling ball hire.


Basement on View
  • Basement on View – 50 View St, Bendigo VIC 3550. Open 9am – 4pm daily

Famous in Bendigo for their Freakshakes, ranging about $15 each, they come with a slice of your choosing and different candies.

Golden Dragon Museum
  • Golden Dragon Museum – 1/11 Bridge St, Bendigo VIC 3550. Open Tuesday to Sunday 9:30am – 5pm. Prices; $11 per adult, $9 per concession, $6 child (5-14), or $28 for family (2 adults and up to 4 children)

The Golden Dragon Museum is dedicated to the history and culture of the Chinese people who immigrated to the Bendigo region during the times of the Gold Rush. Displaying many antiques, with a couple of animated displays, furniture, and the famous Dragons which come out during local festivals, especially around Easter time.

  • Jumpz – 293-303 High Street Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo VIC 3555. Open 10am – 6pm Sunday to Thursday, and 10am – 9pm Friday and Saturday. Pricing; 1 hour is $16 per person, however if you go during school hours outside school holidays and public holidays you can pay for 1 hour and stay for up to 5, make sure to ask about this deal. $3 for Jumpz grip socks (these are a must have, can’t be any other brand)

Jumpz is Bendigo’s trampoline park, definitely a great way to wear anyone out, with foam pits, trampoline walls and dodgeball areas. Afterwards there is laser tag and arcade which costs extra.

Confectionary Capers
  • Confectionary Capers – 1028 McIvor Rd, Junortoun VIC 3551. Open 10am – 5pm Monday to Saturday, 1pm – 5pm on Sundays. Pricing; $8 per adult, $5 children (5-16), $20 family (2 adults and up to 5 children), free for under 5.

Confectionary Capers is a wonderful experience for everyone, it may appear small from the outside but inside it is beyond imagination. You’ll especially love it, if you’re a fan of puns. So many amazing displays, with many being interactive. The owner who runs it, puts in a crazy amount of effort to keep everything running and has been doing so for many years. If you’re heading to Bendigo through Heathcote, it is just on the way, and is an experience you wouldn’t want to miss.
